Keeping Your Skincare Routine Simple

There is a slew of products out there to help you maintain healthy skin. It can be easy to get overwhelmed, trying to bombard your face with a shelf full of cleansers, creams, masks, retinoids, exfoliants, dietary supplements, and more. Unfortunately, going overboard with your skincare routine can rarely do you as much good as you think it will.

First of all, getting too complex with your routine makes it less likely that you’re going to stick to the routine every day. Secondly, the more products you use, the more likely something is going to react poorly with something else, causing irritation or destroying the benefits of one or both products. The acid in a salicylic, for example, can break down the retinol or vitamin C you are getting from other products.

As a rule of thumb, try to limit your skincare products to a cleanser, a moisturizer, a retinoid or retinol, and a broad spectrum sunscreen. This, supplemented with the occasional treatment at our Tacoma Botox clinic, should get you the best out of your skin.
