Late Night Snacking and Your Skin

Your sleep cycle is an important part of your skin’s health. This is the time when your skin takes care of a lot of its upkeep, repairing damage and ideally restoring a healthy, youthful appearance. However, a few wrong choices can rob you of this valuable experience, instead giving you puffy, blotchy, or dry skin upon waking. It is for this reason that our Botox clinic in Tacoma advises that you consider the food and drink you indulge in before bed.

First of all, if you’re looking for a midnight snack, try to avoid salty foods. When you eat salt shortly before bed, your body tries to compensate for its dehydrating powers by retaining fluid in your face. As a result, you might end up with a puffy face.

Secondly, skip the nightcap. You may think that it’s helping you to fall asleep, but it’s actually interfering with your sleep cycle so that you don’t fully benefit from the rest you should be receiving. Also, the alcohol in your drink can dry out your skin and leave you with large, visible pores in the morning. Try to get plenty of water before settling down, and cut down on the bedtime booze.
